Industrial Automation Cases
A certain company’s 3P&4P curved mother WaferB visual inspection
In the connector manufacturing process, terminal size, wafer position and PIN pin alignment directly affect product assembly reliability. Traditional manual inspection is easily affected by experience, fatigue and rhythm limitations, and is difficult to meet the demand for stable mass production. The 3P&4P bent female WaferB visual inspection project demonstrates the automation capabilities of MIJOINT intelligence in AOI size inspection and connector PIN pin alignment judgment.

Project background
This project completes the terminal WaferB AOI inspection size and visually determines the connector PIN pin alignment.
For connector products, PIN pin alignment and terminal size are key quality indicators. If the PIN pin position is offset, skewed or inconsistent in height, it may cause difficulty in subsequent assembly, abnormal electrical connection or poor customer site. Therefore, this type of inspection is more suitable to be completed through a stable vision system rather than relying on manual inspection.
Automation solution
MIJOINT intelligently classified this case into the scope of online visual inspection capabilities, using the AOI vision system to detect the dimensions of the WaferB terminals and visually judge the co-location of the connector PIN pins. Combined with the online visual inspection machine information in the product center, this type of equipment can be used in online inspection scenarios such as terminal crimping, wire stripping, solder joints, and electrode sheets, and supports dimensional inspection and defect identification.
Online visual inspection machine product pictures and product manuals are used to demonstrate equipment-level capabilities; project diagrams are used to present specific inspection objects and case scenarios.
Process Difficulties
The difficulty of this project lies in the small detection target, fine location requirements, and high batch consistency requirements. The visual inspection of WaferB and PIN pins requires a stable light source, suitable field of view, clear edge recognition and reliable algorithm judgment. If the detection system's false positive rate is too high, it will affect on-site efficiency; if the missed detection rate is too high, it will not be able to support quality control.
Another difficulty is detecting beats. Connector production is usually fast-paced, and visual inspection equipment needs to complete image collection, positioning, measurement and judgment within the production line cycle, and feed the results back to subsequent sorting or rejection mechanisms.
Customer Value
By replacing manual judgment with visual inspection, this project can improve the consistency of terminal size inspection and PIN pin alignment judgment. For customers, the value is not just a reduction in inspection personnel, but also more stable data records, more traceable quality judgments and a lower risk of bad outflows.
This case is suitable for use as an entry case for industrial automation visual inspection capabilities on the website. It is used to illustrate that MIJOINT intelligence can not only do full-line assembly, but also provide single-point inspection, online inspection and algorithm iteration services around key quality points.
